Abstract:
Healthcare professionals have an ethical responsibility inherent in their role. This presentation aims to define professional boundaries in the healthcare environment with a focus on ethics from both the nursing and social work profession, identify why professional boundaries matter in the healthcare environment, recognize signs of over-involvement and under- involvement in the therapeutic relationship, and understand the risks of compromising the professional boundary as both a healthcare professional and for the patient.
